Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Commissioner General (ret) Mochammad Sofyan Jacob will undergo a third round of interrogation as a treason suspect on Monday (June 17), according to the police.
"The investigators have rescheduled (the questioning). He will face questioning on Monday (June 17, 2019)," Chief of the Public Relations Section of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Jacob was unable to meet the second summons on Monday (June 4, 2019) for the first round of interrogation as a treason suspect owing to ill health. He had earlier undergone police questioning as a witness in May 2019.
Speaking in connection with his non-attendance at the first round of questioning, Jacob appealed to investigators to reschedule it, for which he had filed an application with the police through his lawyer, Ahmad Yani.
"It is true that Sofyan Jacob is scheduled to be questioned today, but he could not turn up since he is unwell. Today, we file the application for rescheduling the questioning," Yani remarked at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Station on Monday.
Yani emphasized that Jacob will be present for questioning if the police were to reschedule it.
"We are ready to take Sofyan Jacob (for questioning)," he remarked.
Jacob was declared a suspect on May 29, 2019, on treason charge after the investigators heard several witness testimonies and cross-verified information.
Jacob is charged with committing treason on the basis of recorded statements.
