"We will continue to identify the victims. They are our citizens. All are our children," spokesman of the Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus affirmed here on Monday.
Yunus said on the basis of indecent videos that investigators found on Frans' laptop, he had molested 305 children.
The police are encountering difficulties in identifying the children, as they do not possess electronic ID cards.
Yunus pointed out that despite the children's faces being visible in the videos, tracing them was a tough task since they did not hold ID cards.
The Ministry of Social Affairs is expected to assist the children once they are identified, he confirmed.
"The Minister of Social Affairs has said that we (the police) need to establish cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and PPA (the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection) for facilitating the trauma healing process of the victims," he stated.
The Jakarta Metro Police's Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Frans in June 2020 at a hotel in Jakarta where they found two underage girls in his room.
Based on the police’s investigation, the suspect approached street children and lured them by offering them work as models.
Those consenting to sex with him would receive between Rp250 thousand to Rp1 million (US$17-70), whereas those not complying with his sexual demands would be beaten, slapped, and kicked by the suspect.
The suspect committed the crime at three different hotels in the capital city during the period from December 2109 to June 2020, but the police believe he had engaged in such acts long before that.
The police seized 21 pieces of clothing worn by the victims for making the video. It also confiscated a laptop containing the names of 305 victims along with their photographs and videos.
