Labuan Bajo, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander Admiral Yudo Margono affirmed that military personnel are ready to maintain sea security close to venues of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.
"On the security aspect, we will strictly monitor sailing ships and marine security. I have conveyed this to personnel deployed to maintain security here," Margono stated at the Labuan Bajo Marina Pier here on Wednesday.
Security officers will focus on maintaining the security of Ayana Lako Di'a traditional pinisi boat that will sail with leaders of ASEAN countries to observe the sunset in Labuan Bajo at 5 p.m. local time (UTC+8), the admiral stated.
He also personally inspected the boat in its entirety to ensure no security threats for the leaders on board.
"The event's agendas have been conceived, and I have checked the boat's readiness," Margono stated.
The TNI commander then instructed military personnel to maintain the security of seas around Meruorah Hotel that is hosting the ASEAN leaders' meeting on the first day of the summit.
He also instructed personnel to monitor every movement of state heads and delegates attending the ASEAN Summit from their respective hotels to Meruorah Hotel.
The security operation will continue until the conclusion of the welcome dinner, on Wednesday evening, at the Ayana Labuan Bajo Hotel, he stated.
"We will check the preparedness of all aspects. We will monitor our officers at the site and the command center," Margono affirmed.
During the visit to the marina pier, the TNI commander conversed with personnel assigned to the marine security mission.
He also instructed them to perform their duty properly and encouraged them to be motivated in fulfilling their tasks.
