Jokowi and Prabowo arrived at around 10:40 a.m. local time at a restaurant that was also thronged by Jakarta's residents.
Residents also vociferously called out to the duo as a welcome gesture until they got into a scuffle of sorts with reporters covering the event.
On the occasion, Jokowi was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Head of the National Intelligence Agency Budi Gunawan, and Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, while Ahmad Muzan, Sufmi Dasc Ahmad, and Edy Prabowo of Prabowo's camp were present at the event.
Jokowi and Prabowo earlier rode a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train from the Lebak Bulus station at around 10:12 a.m. local time.
They boarded the train for a ride lasting some 15 minutes to the Senayan MRT station located adjacent to FX Mall.
The meeting was the first one to be held 15 days after the Constitutional Court decided to reject the lawsuit over dispute in the General Election results filed by the Prabowo-Sandi camp, so as to declare Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin as president-elect and vice president-elect of Indonesia respectively.
During a press conference at the Senayan MRT Station, Jokowi remarked that his meeting with Prabowo was a get-together of two friends.
In the meantime, Prabowo congratulated Jokowi on being elected president.
