Semarang, ANTARA JATENG - Three climbers were dead after being struck by a lightning during a hiking on Mount Prau of Wonosobo District, Central Java on Sunday.
"It occurred at around 02.00 p.m," spokesperson of Central Java Police Djarod Padakova said here on Sunday confirming the incident.
The three victims were Deden Hidayat Maulana (31), resident of Benang IV Road no.44 Sukma Jaya, Depok, West Java; Aditya Agung (30) and Adi Setyawan (31), both were residents of Cipinang Muara 2 Road, Duren Sawit, Jakarta.
The three victims started the hike to Mount Prau in a group of 11 climbers.
The lightning struck the victims near a tower at the mountain.
Two other climbers were reported to be injured by the lightning strike.
They have been evacuated to Setjo Negoro Hospital in Wonosobo to receive treatment, Padakova said.
